Been Beachin' It

I've been at the beach lately and when I am on vacation I don't bring my Blackberry or laptop, hence the delay in getting my latest post out to you. I took my Mama and Dada down there for some R and R. Mama literally put her #2 pencil away about 20 minutes before we hit the road headed South. Her new nickname is now Leighton 4.0. There are all sorts of stories from the beach but mostly I let my parents carry me to the beach and then I would just walk straight back to the boardwalk. Here are some pictures from the eventful week.

Here is a rare moment when I was content on the beach just relaxing and getting some shade. It lasted for about 2 minutes.

I think I am asking for directions to the room here. By the way, the baby in the red bathing suit and snorkel gear is not real...just a toy.

Fun Family Picture Time! Fun Family Picture Time! If your having trouble finding me its probably because some girl that Ken brought with him jumped out in front of me right when the guy said cheese. Just kidding, that's Deborah, I mean Debbie. I stole this picture from her facebook page.

This is what happens after I go to bed. Everyone brings out toys and dresses up. Everyone except my square parents.

Here I am with Grand Mama and Meredith. I had ketchup with my fries if you can't tell.

One problem I had on vacation was there were several other kids there so I had to share the spotlight with others. I rarely had anyone give me any attention.

See what I mean, no attention whatsoever.

Just kidding about the toys coming out after I went to bed. This is me and Eli posing for a picture while Meredith is stuck in her hat.

I was given a blue bandana to match my eyes. By the way, we were dressed up for Western night at the beach. Don't act like you've never had Western night at the beach.

Ok, the main reason why I stayed away from the beach...we had a playground where we stayed. Evidently they allow kids to run around in their diapers.

Me and Meridith enjoying some afternoon tea. What a great way to wind down.

Sweeping

It's just that time of year...Spring. I am doing some Spring Cleaning just like the Rebels have been doing in baseball the past couple of weeks. First is was the mighty Tigers from Louisiana State that went down, and this weekend the Rebels won their 10th straight game, 2nd straight sweep and 5th straight against MS State (handing them their 6th straight loss).

I have my moments

Hello everyone. Again, I am sorry that I have neglected you, my adoring readers. I have been busy lately as both me and Mama have exams coming up this week. She is taking 18 hrs and I have been working on the letters A and B this semester. Mama has been seeing patients in the clinic and I have focused on the color Red. All of this along with winning 10 straight games in baseball including sweeps of State and LSU (hotty toddy) makes for a busy last couple of weeks. My photographer has been pretty lazy too so the only action shots we have are me strolling around Double Decker and one picture from what has been referred to as Terrible Tomato Tuesday.

Here is one of my better moments

Here is another moment.

Rustic outdoors

I spent a good bit of the weekend roughing it in the springtime weather and Azalea filled forest of East Central Mississippi. It was not the easiest thing I have done but I have come to love and enjoy the great outdoors and all it has to offer. We went to Meridian for Michelle's baby bath and besides that we just relaxed.

Have you seen this dress before? I have...the last 3 weekends but I think there is some rule about being able to wear it multiple times in a row as long as you are in a different zip code. This rule is much more strict than Dada's sock rule.

I am sure I am looking for a Bee in this picture. If I am outside by a bush or tree then that is what I am usually doing. I usually see one even though no one else does.

Bees can sometimes be found on the ground. Those Bees are the Bee's knees

Lets go Grand Daddy, I don't know where I am going but I'm determined to get there cute and fast.

Here I am with Grand Daddy and Lottie. I love posing for pictures.

Mama and I found a shade tree after a long day in the wilderness.

Dog days of Spring are upon us

Hello everyone. Not too much to report over the weekend...just good times and good weather. Presley and I washed my wagon while dad took care of the cars, truck, motorcycle, boats, jet skis, ATV and roller-blades. Any excuse to be outside and enjoy this time of year.

Dad missed a spot

Parker and I hung out at Jackson's house Saturday. We had a lot of catching up to do. Parker and I used to hang out at school together. Remember when we wore the same top to school...

This is my Easter dress again...it will look at little odd on me next year so I am trying to get as much use out of it as possible. Can you blame me?

A Humbling Easter Egg Hunt

I had a wonderful Easter weekend. Great weather, family and food were everywhere, bunnies, candy, friends and neighbors. It really was fun. At the neighborhood Easter Egg hunt I ran into some real pros though. I pretty much held my own at my hunt at school, but the kids on my street really know what they are doing. Don't get me wrong, I still had more eggs in my basket than it could handle, but I really had to exert some extra effort this time. I had iconic photographer Annie Leibovitz follow me around to document the special occasion. See her work below.

The eggs were especially hard to find at this hunt. If you look close you might see one in the distance. It really takes a trained eye to spot these little guys.

This was my ride to the hunt. This 2009 Limited Edition Step 2 Wagon has a quite smooth ride, 20" dubs, A/C, mama steering, navigation system, room for a duck basket and 2 blankets, etc.

Oxford weekend resident Grand mama Kathy was at the hunt. She came by right after her morning workout.

Here is an action shot right when the race started.

Notice how although we were competing against each other Robert N. and I worked well together. His dad...now that is another story. He was trying to sit on me.

This might look sweet but he was just trying to get my blue egg. I told him I would trade him for a pink one.

Back from the hunt and Grand Daddy takes me for another spin.

And then I took Uncle G for a spin. I think I have seen Shaggy from Scooby Doo make that same face before.

Ok...changing gears here. Easter morning is upon us and the bunny did not disappoint.

Not only did he leave wonderful treats inside he also left eggs outside. I had a good time with a relaxing hunt in my jammies.

Check out my new bathing suit. That's right, swimsuit season is right around the corner.

Here we are after Church...you should have heard the music. Notice how my bow is still in my hair. I try to stay prim and proper on special Sundays.

Speaking of prim, check out Lottie.

Mama is about to start singing "I'm a little Teapot"

Aunt Sissy and Mama Coats were here too. Look at all us ladies.

Another family photo opportunity. If you look close you will notice that all 4 of us are sleeping.

Me and Uncle Shaggy.

All good things must come to an end. This one happened to end with me in my new dress. Thanks Aunt Sissy.

On the Hunt

I woke up excited this morning and ready for my first real Easter Egg Exploration. I was scheduled to attend one last Sunday but due partly to inclement weather and due partly to my bad mood I had to skip it.

I have found I am extremely good at lots of things and after today's hunt at school I think that hunting eggs might be right up there with my dancing skills and my ability to feed Presley treats. I have asked Mama to bring extra baskets and some band-aids to my next hunt. The extra baskets are for my eggs and the band-aids are for the poor children that get in my way. Check out the action below.

Here I am about to head out the door for school.

This was my first egg. I was just learning what to do at this point. Don't worry, I caught on quick. Look how cute my little ducky basket with feet is. Thanks Lottie.

Notice my two handed approach to dropping off the eggs. This is needed when you pick up more eggs than one hand can handle. Also a cute pink bubble and ruffled socks help.

Look at his face...mesmerized. He does not have a Easter egg basket because there was no need. All the eggs are in my basket.

Here I am trying to get some help with this basket. These things get heavy with all these eggs.

The show is over everybody. Lets break these things open and get some candy. And don't worry everyone, I shared all my eggs with my fellow classmates.

After the hunt we went to the play ground for some exercise. Here I am going down the infant slide with Mama.

And here I am going down the old folks slide. Don't eat a heavy meal before dropping down this baby.

This is my porcelain doll that I had created in my image. It's name is "Mims at 17 months"

Here is the doll relaxing by the back door and eating a graham cracker, which I affectionately call Dada. I lov'em both.
